In case you like Easter egg hunts

Like I do.

Saturday April 11th at 8:00am at Franklin Covey Field.

Lots of eggs filled with goodies.

Free (I think)

If only I was young enough to justify gathering my weight in hidden eggs.

The Truth Hurts

Why can't we just tell the truth?

Why are we always worried about what others will think? Why is it not acceptable to speak you mind in certain situations?

Some people praise others for their honesty, others are berated for being too blunt. Which is better?

Now, I can already see your comments: Its all about tact, I know. You don't want to hurt others feelings. You don't to be rude. You don't want to seem stuck up or snobbish for your opinion.

WHY?

Why can't we just all be brutally honest with each other and stop pussy-footing around trying to make others feel better about themselves? That shirt does make you look fat. I am mad that you bailed on me. We aren't friends, stop trying to make it happen.

Why, when some one asks me how I am doing, am I obligated to say, "Oh, fine." Even when I want to punch someone in the face? Why can't I say, "I'm pissed off, thanks. Now shut up or you're making my list." And just have that accepted and followed.

I am in a business of polite tact. But sometimes you have to put your foot down. I'm just never allowed to do it when I really want to. (I'm sorry you want your $600 check cashed with no questions asked, but you only have $.37 in your account, and I am going to make you deposit something because I am not a Check-into-Cash, I am a credit union.) By the time I leave work I no longer want to be nice and polite. Maybe I need to join the Roller Derby or something to get my aggression out. I want to say it like it is, and have those around me respect me for it. I don't have the patience to make you feel good about yourself.

This may sound a little harsh, and I would love to say that I am starting a new fad of being honest, despite the consequences, but I know that would be a lie. I am not like that. My sense of decency makes me think twice when tempted to tell someone how I really feel. It's how we all get along. Make friends, get jobs, live happily ever after. And I know that.

But sometimes....

"I smell like I sound."

Can you guess what it is from?

Edited to add: Audrey B. gets the prize for guessing the song! Hungry Like The Wolf by Duran Duran! Good job Audrey!

Disneyland Day 2

In no particular order, here are some pictures from our second day in the D-Land.

(these were outside our hotel room, and I LOVE them)

This is the crowd under Tarzan's Tree House
I think Darth Vader was really that tall.

This thing spins at a certain speed and then lights flash in intervals and it makes your eyes act like a camera shutter and it looks like the figures are moving. Very cool.

Nik liked Toon Town the best. Surprised?

If only....
This is on the Safair boat ride.

On the train

We did get to see one character.

What I am going to put on my front door.

Why I love my bathroom

For Christmas Nik got me this great vinyl of some birds on a tree branch with a bunch of leaves. I found it on a website that has a ton of awesome designs to choose from, for very reasonable prices. We finally got around to putting this up about 2 weeks ago. It was a process. We spent about half an hour placing, stepping back and replacing every piece before deciding on this layout. I think it makes the bathroom look much better. I have previously been using wall stickers from the dollar store that I change every couple months, (and I really liked them, don't get me wrong) but I like the more permant aspect of this one. Try to get past the bad lighting in the room, and just look at the cute birds and stuff.

The much anticipated...

I thought of so many things to blog about while we were in California, and now I can remember any of them! So I will just do some picture posting to make up for it. There are not as many pictures from Disneyland cause we were too busy having fun to take pictures all the time. But here are some from the first night we were there.

Can you see me the picture? I would have lightened this one up, but I am at work and can't. Maybe I will later...

Here we are on our first ride of the trip, Peter Pan! One of Nik's favorite's, and mine too.
On the Ferry.
I think Nik is supposed to be looking surprised, but he just looks kind of dumb founded. The new additions to Pirates are pretty cool. They have put Jack Sparrow seamlessly into the existing ride. But you can tell that the robotronic abilities of today far surpass the past.

Well, there you go. The first day. I will do day two later. And hopefully I can think of some of the things I wanted to write about.

Once again, stealing from Little Birdie Secrets

These are my Dad's favorite Girl Scout Cookies, and I always remember needing to ask (and sometimes beg) to have one. Now I could take them or leave them, but something tell me I could eat quite a few of these home made Thin Mints.

The Happiest Place on Earth

I sure hope so!

For those of you who don't know already, Nik and I are headed out to Disneyland (or Dizzleyland as Annie would call it) on the 17th. I am so exited to go! I went to D-Land for the first time (with my family) the summer before I got married, and we had so much fun! It was great cause we were all grown up, well, Jeff was like 11, but he was grown up enough. Nik has not gone since he was a small child and we have obviously never been together. It will be fun to go with him because he is a die-hard Disney fan and I know we will both act like little kids when we get there.

I am really looking forward to this trip with Nik. It is the first trip we have taken just us. You know, not with friends or family, or meeting friends or family. We are free to do whatever we want, just the two of us. Don't get me wrong, this would have been a cool trip with company, but since that did not work out, I am glad we could still go.

We have been saving for this trip for about 7 months or more and because of recent circumstances we debated actually going, or using that money for other things. But after much deliberation, we decided it would be good for our mental health to take the vacation and we would make it work later, if we needed too.

I am a little nervous to fly, but it is a short, non-stop light each way, so hopefully I will not completely freak myself out again. And I am not talking the Dramamine this time, I think it made the rest of the day worse last time. We will have a rental car waiting when we get there so we can see other parts of California, including the San Diego Zoo! I think Nik might be more excited for this part than for Disneyland. Truthfully, I kind of am too. I hear it is so cool, and so big. If anyone who has been there can offer any advice about getting through it in one day, I would appreciate it.

Yay for vacations!

Loralee's Give-away

Several months ago I found a new blog to stalk. She was on the radio with the author of a blog I already stalked (Dooce, which I love) and I decided I needed to make her part of my regular readings. She is amazing. She has gone through and is going through more stuff than I can even fathom. Her blog is linked here as 'Loralee (From the Radio)', but her blog is actually called Loralee's Looney Tunes, and she is doing a give away that I hope to win! If you have a spare few minutes, please read some of her posts, they are awesome. Her most recent one is a little lengthy (just to warn you) but it is a Q&A so it is a good chance to get to know her. Thanks!

Birds on a Wire

I think birds must be a little Autistic. Don't take this the wrong way, and I know that there are different levels of autism and degrees of functionality, but that is not what this post is about. But it does reference a little boy my Mom used to tend that was autistic. He was very good at lining up the Barney figures on the ironing board with such precise spacing that it looked like he had used a ruler. He lined everything up like that. It was awesome.

Now, have you ever noticed the little birds on the telephone wires. Always the exact same distance apart from each other. I have even seen the birds move sideways on the wires till they obtain the middle of the other birds.

How do they know they are in the middle? Why is it so important that they be so evenly spaced? Do the other birds smell? Do they have personal space issues? It is the equivalent of having your own room?

Do you know?

Support me!!!

So I found out the other day that the people I solder for have a blog I did not know about. So I am here to shamelessly plug it. The company is called The Pink Chandelier and I have the link at the bottom of my Blog-Worthy Blogs link list. It is in the early stages but it features some of the pieces I did for St. Patrick's Day and has a list of the retail stores you can purchase them at. You know, just in case you can't wait to get one of your own! Keep in mind that she does special orders so if you have an idea for a design you want or have a photo you would like necklaced, (like Mickey Rourke at the Oscars) please email her. She is really good. You can even have glitter. Please check it out!!!

Edited to add: I do not mean that you would want a picture of Mickey Rourke, I mean that Mickey Rourke (at the Oscars) had a picture of his dog that had recently passed away in a neckalce similar to these. Thanks mom....I'm not sure if you are kidding....

Sonntag Family Reunion

Here is a sampling of the pictures I took at the reunion over the weekend. Notice a lack of pictures of people I did not know.
