There are no blue foods

While eating some strangely delicious Wild Berry Skittles I started to ponder the fate of the raspberry. How did it end up blue? I know, there are lots of red fruits, but who decided it was the raspberry that would be shucked of its identifying color and reallocated to blue?

But that's the way it is now. When you see a blue candy, you think two things: Its either cotton candy, or blue raspberry. And for some reason Blue Raspberry is always a slightly different flavor than Regular Raspberry would be. Has anyone ever had a blue raspberry candy that tasted like a real raspberry? Yes, I know, the strawberry and cherry ones don't usually taste right either, but you get my point.

Does anyone know why/when this happened? Could we just have easily have been eating Blue Strawberry candy?
